***AVAILABLE IN ALL OF MY STATES***

Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide that has been studied for its potential role in regulating sleep and various "extra-sleep" effects, including stress reduction, pain management, and hormonal modulation. It is found in several blends, but this is a great solo option for DSIP!

Using DSIP as a solo option gives you more options and flexibility for dosing. Doses can vary by individual, but 200mcg-500mcg are typical. When using DSIP with one of the blends, your dose will be 200mcg-250mcg. You can use the same doses with the 1mg/ml 5ml vial. For those that would like more focused benefits with DSIP, the higher doses are available as well using the 2mg/ml 5ml vial.

DOSING OPTIONS:

  1. 1mg/ml vial: Inject 20 units (200mcg per injection) subcutaneously every evening on an empty stomach, two hours after your last meal. Use 5 nights on, then 2 nights off. One vial will last 5 weeks*, and 2 vials will last 10 weeks* with this dosing.
  2. 1mg/ml vial: Inject 25 units (250mcg per injection) subcutaneously every evening on an empty stomach two hours after your last meal. Use 5 nights on, then 2 nights off. One vial will last 4 weeks*, and 2 vials will last 8 weeks* with this dosing. These will be the directions on your 1mg/ml vial.
  3. 2mg/ml vial: Inject 20 units (400mcg per injection) subcutaneously every evening on an empty stomach, two hours after your last meal. Use 5 nights on, then 2 nights off. One vial will last 5 weeks*, and 2 vials will last 10 weeks* with this dosing.
  4. 2mg/ml vial: Inject 25 units (500mcg per injection) subcutaneously every evening on an empty stomach two hours after your last meal. Use 5 nights on, then 2 nights off. One vial will last 4 weeks*, and 2 vials will last 8 weeks* with this dosing. These will be the directions on your 2mg/ml vial.

Cycle your injections 10-12 weeks on, then 2-4 weeks off. Repeat as needed.

*It is important to note that the CDC recommends multidose vials such as these to be discarded 4 weeks after mixing to reduce contamination. This is not due to the quality of the medication, but rather to reduce contamination risks. If you use the medication for longer than 4 weeks after mixing, please take extra care when cleaning your vial and your skin to decrease any contamination risks. If you are uncomfortable using the vial for 5 weeks, use Option #2 above.

DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide)

What Is DSIP?

  • Delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) is a naturally occurring neuropeptide that has been studied for its potential role in regulating sleep and various "extra-sleep" effects, including stress reduction, pain management, and hormonal modulation. It is a small peptide composed of nine amino acids (Trp-Ala-Gly-Gly-Asp-Ala-Ser-Gly-Glu).
  • For over 40 years, studies have shown that DSIP shows stress-protective action by decreasing stress metabolic disorders through modulating a number of physiological and endocrine pathways in the central nervous system.
  • DSIP was first isolated in the 1970s from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits that had been electrically stimulated into slow-wave sleep.
  • While its exact mechanism remains unclear, research suggests DSIP is involved in the initiation of sleep, particularly slow-wave sleep (delta sleep), which is the deepest, most restorative phase. It is also thought to interact with various neurotransmitter systems (like GABA and opioid receptors) and modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, which influences stress responses.
  • A peptide found in the brain that has been shown to induce deep, restorative sleep.
  • It has been studied for its ability to influence sleep cycles, reduce stress, and act as a neuroprotective agent.
  • It has been used clinically to treat opioid and alcohol withdrawal symptoms, as well as chronic pain and depression, although it is not FDA-approved.

Potential Benefits:

  • May improved sleep quality
  • May reduce nighttime waking
  • May reduce stress and anxiety
  • May help relieve emotional and psychological responses to stress
  • Pain management properties
  • May help normalize stress hormone levels
  • Potential neuroprotective effects
  • Non-habit forming

Possible Side Effects:

  • Daytime drowsiness
  • Headaches or dizziness
  • GI discomfort such as nausea or upset stomach

Joint Commission guidelines for proper use of many multi-dose vials include the recommendation to discard the vial 4 weeks after first puncture, even though the Beyond Use Date (BUD) may be longer. These guidelines are generally followed in office and hospital settings, particularly when the vial is used for multiple different patients. However, this same suggestion is made for vials punctured several times a day or only once a week. With certain vial sizes/doses/packages, using all of the medication in the vial without wasting any could result in a patient using the vial for longer than 28 days after first puncture. If you choose to use your vial longer than 28 days after first puncture due to package size or maintenance dosing, you must acknowledge that you understand the Joint Commission recommendations to discard the vial 28 days after first puncture, even if you only puncture the vial once a week. You will be using the vial at your own discretion. If you are uncomfortable using the vial for 5 weeks, use Option #2 above and inject 25 units nightly.
