*These HIGHLIGHTED dose directions will be used on your packaging. Please note that the amount you inject for the 5mg dose will differ depending on package.
New patients not previously on an injectable weight loss medication will start at the 2.5mg for the first 4 weeks. You may then move up to the 5mg dose for the next 4 weeks, then 7.5mg for 4 weeks, etc. However, you do NOT have to move up in dosing until you are ready. If you are having successful weight loss on a certain dose, you do not have to move up. Also, if you are having significant side effects on a dose, you should spend another 4 weeks on your current dose before you move up.
VITAMIN B3
Vitamin B3, particularly niacinamide, can be a useful supportive nutrient for patients who are losing weight, especially when appetite and overall food intake are reduced. Although it does not directly cause weight loss, it plays an important role in helping the body use the nutrients it consumes efficiently.
B3 helps convert carbohydrates, fats, and proteins into usable cellular energy. This can be helpful for patients who are eating less and may notice lower energy levels during weight loss. Niacinamide is also involved in the production of NAD and NADP, coenzymes that are essential for normal metabolism, cellular energy production, and many repair processes throughout the body.
For patients using GLP-1 medications, reduced appetite can sometimes lead to lower intake of vitamins and nutrients. Adding B3 may help provide nutritional and metabolic support during this period. It may also support normal nervous system function, skin health, and overall cellular function.
B3 is a supportive addition to a weight-loss program, rather than a fat-burning ingredient. Its potential value is in helping support energy production, metabolism, and nutritional adequacy while patients are consuming fewer calories.
VITAMIN B5
Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, can be a helpful supportive nutrient for patients who are losing weight, particularly when appetite and calorie intake are reduced. Like B3, it does not directly cause weight loss, but it plays an important role in normal energy metabolism.
B5 is needed to make coenzyme A (CoA), which helps the body break down and use carbohydrates, fats, and proteins for energy. Because of this, adequate B5 supports the body’s ability to efficiently process the nutrients patients are eating during a reduced-calorie diet.
For patients using GLP-1 medications, lower food intake can sometimes contribute to fatigue or reduced nutrient intake. B5 may help support normal cellular energy production and overall metabolic function during this period. It also contributes to the production of certain hormones and other compounds the body uses for normal physiologic function.
B5 is a supportive addition to a weight-loss program, not as a fat-burning ingredient. Its potential benefit is in supporting energy production, metabolism, and nutritional balance while patients are eating less and working toward weight-loss goals.
Joint Commission guidelines for proper use of many multi-dose vials include the recommendation to discard the vial 4 weeks after first puncture, even though the Beyond Use Date (BUD) may be longer. These guidelines are generally followed in office and hospital settings, particularly when the vial is used for multiple different patients. However, this same suggestion is made for vials punctured several times a day or only once a week. With certain vial sizes/doses/packages, using all of the medication in the vial without wasting any could result in a patient using the vial for longer than 28 days after first puncture. If you choose to use your vial longer than 28 days after first puncture due to package size or maintenance dosing, you must acknowledge that you understand the Joint Commission recommendations to discard the vial 28 days after first puncture, even if you only puncture the vial once a week. You will be using the vial at your own discretion.
If you have any concerns about this issue and for best safety practices, please discard any leftover medication 28 days after first puncture and select a 4 week package.
